St Moninne’s Pattern Day Celebrated

St Moninne, who was one of our first female Irish saints in Ireland  founded Killeavy in 450. She was deeply connected to the Celtic calendar and the landscape and was a great spiritual teacher. Ring of Gullion Ambassador and Tour Guide Ann Ward recently took part in a special film for the Armagh Dioceses to celebrate the Patron Saint.

Tomaí Ó Conghailes  singing on Moninne’s Pattern Day (6th July) a rendition of Amhran na Craoibhe/Song of the Branch which is all about her Pattern day.

Padraigín Ní Uallacháin  explains the origins of the song on the website Oriel Arts.

St.Moninna’s  Primary & Nursery School  Cloughoge recently gave a kind  donation towards the upkeep of the sacred sites.

Pictured on 6th July are pupils Moninne, Erin and Niamh Rice putting flowers on Moninnes grave.
