The winners of this years’ Ring of Gullion Photography Competition joined Mayor John McArdle and Deputy Mayor Patrick McDonald in Newry Arts Centres’ Bell Gallery to launch the exhibition which runs until 22nd October.

The red kite was once a common sight across Britain and Ireland, until around 200 years ago when they were persecuted to extinction here. In 2007, the RSPB NI, Golden Eagle Trust and Welsh Kite Trust began an ambitious project to bring these birds back to our skies.

Newry and Mourne District Council received funding from the European Regional Development Fund, INTERREG IVA Programme through the CASA Project. This project is managed by CASA (Castleblaney/South Armagh) Partnership who secured £1.3million funding development.

Finally all has been revealed; following the bizarre footprints in the pavement, the bones discovered at Slieve Gullion, the large egg at Grounded Espresso Bar and the frequent dragon sightings…Sticky Fingers have announced that there is to be a Dragon Safari at Slieve Gullion on 3rd-5th August 2pm-5pm.

Newry and Mourne District Council has received an earmarked first-round pass¹ of £980,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) through its Landscape Partnership (LP) programme² for the Ring of Gullion project, it was announced today.
