Irish language enthusiasts from South Armagh and Co. Louth, who gathered to watch the winter solstice in a passage tomb on the top of Slieve Gullion (573m) on Sunday (Dec 23rd) witnessed an event of an entirely different sort.

Winter Solstice – Setting Sun illuminates Slieve Gullion Passage tomb

The Stone Age monument dates to between 4000 B.C. and 2500 B.C., making it up to 6000 years old. That could be 3000 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt and nearly 4000 years older than England's Stonehenge! Or as old as them anyway…The tomb is aligned to the setting sun at the winter solstice.

Finally all has been revealed; following the bizarre footprints in the pavement, the bones discovered at Slieve Gullion, the large egg at Grounded Espresso Bar and the frequent dragon sightings…Sticky Fingers have announced that there is to be a Dragon Safari at Slieve Gullion on 3rd-5th August 2pm-5pm.
