Aliens in the Ring of Gullion?

Is the Ring of Gullion under threat of an alien invasion? The Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership, part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, is working with local volunteers to carry out mapping surveys across the region; looking for alien invasive species. But these aliens aren’t little green men but big green plants!

Travel Back in Time this Summer

Councillor Naomi Bailie, Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is delighted to launch the Ring of Gullion Heritage Coach tours which will be starting on Saturday 18th July and will running until Saturday 5th September. The fully guided coach tours take in the most impressive sights and monuments the Ring of Gullion has to offer.

The Ring of Gullion funded until March 2016

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council are happy to announce the Ring of Gullion is one of 21 environmental projects which has benefited from the Department of Environment’s Natural Environment Fund (NEF). This funding will enable the Ring of Gullion AONB to continue until the 31st March 2016.

Volunteers Repair Slieve Gullion Cairn

Around 30 volunteers climbed Slieve Gullion mountain to carry out much needed repair work on the 5000 year old Neolithic cairn at its summit.

Gullion grasslands in decline

The Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership is on the lookout for donor grasslands. We have identified a number of suitable sites to create semi-natural grasslands and we need seeds from donor sites to sow in the Autumn.

The Ring of Gullion’s new website launched

On a fresh May morning on the shores of Camlough Lake and at the foot of Camlough Mountain Chairperson of Newry Mourne and Down District Council Councillor Naomi Ballie officially launched the new Ring of Gullion website, www.ringofgullion.org, with Slieve Gullion Councillor Roisin Mulgrew and designer Paudie Fearon from Wibble Web Design & Development.
