Bessbrook Model Village wins Heritage Lottery Fund support

Today, the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership has received £55,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for an exciting project, ‘The Model Village Living History Archive’, in Bessbrook. Led by volunteers from the local community (Bessbrook Heritage Group, Bessbrook Development Company and Friends of Derrymore), the project focuses on Bessbrook's heritage and will allow people to be proud of their village again. It aims to do this by creating innovative interpretation, developing the local skills, knowledge base and networks and engaging with the local community in a fun way and hosting intergenerational and cross community workshops.

South Armagh Outdoor Recreation Organisations Given The Right to Choose.

The Ring of Gullion team is asking organsiations in south Armagh involved in outdoor sports and recreation, if they are revved up to set up an Outdoor Recreation Forum? There was a very positive meeting on the 26th April in Mullaghbane Community Centre with a number of businesses and groups from the area turning up.

Sport NI was on hand to talk about how other forums have been set up in Northern Ireland and how the groups in these areas have benefited. They also spoke about upcoming funding opportunities in Outdoor Recreation.

Butterfly Recorders Day 2016

Nearly one year on from the Ring of Gullion’s new website being launched, visitor numbers have grown, new features added, won an award, and now an exciting new addition from our partners at ROGHA. ROGHA have launched their new online shop www.ROGHAshop.com in partnership with the Ring of Gullion. ROGHA is a community of Artists from South Armagh inspired by the beauty and unique heritage, majesty and myth of the Ring of Gullion delivering local hand made Irish Art and Craft.

Slieve Gullion scoops top award

Slieve Gullion Forest Park has been awarded the ‘Best Outdoor Recreation for Families’ Award. The extremely popular ‘Families First Awards’ took place in the Armagh City Hotel and gave parents their say in recognising the products, people and brands their families love across the Island of Ireland.
