Another Mothtastic night Tiger hunting!!

Families came from as far as the Cooley mountains to learn more about Butterflies and Moths in their gardens at the Ring of Gullion Event on Thursday 8th August in Jonesborough’s Pastoral Centre. And they weren’t disappointed with the elusive Garden Tiger moth, the colourful rainbow-like Mother of Pearl Moth and even a moth that looked very much like bird poo! found as part of the night’s adventures!

There was a fantastic turn out on Wednesday 24th July which saw the last of the open community consultations for the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership Scheme. The final consultation was themed around industrial heritage. On the night people got to feel the quality of the linen that was produced in Bessbrook. They also got to see pictures of workers from the mill as well as talk to former mill workers.

Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership Community Consultation of to a good start

Last Wednesday night saw the start of the community consultation for the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership. The music from the Ring of Gullion Comhaltas, and dancing from students of Debby Maguire’s School of Dancing left the audience in no doubt that the talent in South Armagh is second to none.

Slieve Gullion Forest adventure Park wins best Tourism Partner Initiative at the NITB awards.

The new play park at Slieve Gullion won a NITB award last week. The award was in the category of Tourism Partner Initiative. The development of the project was led by Mrs Julie Mc Cann of Newry & Mourne District Council who worked closely with a wide range of local partners to establish the high quality adventure park.

Ring of Gullion Audio Guides

Mayor Councilor John McArdle launched the Ring of Gullion Audio Guides at the Slieve Gullion Courtyard just in time for the summer season. The launch was attended by the areas MP, MLA and local councilors as well as the local community and council officials who worked on the tour.
