A gorse fire has been burning at the Ballintemple end of Slieve Gullion mountain since Friday. Fire crews have been working tirelessly alongside volunteers from Mourne Heritage Trust amongst others, to bring the fire under control. The emergency services request that people refrain from walking on the summit of Slieve Gullion mountain and visiting the area of the fire as this is hindering their work.View more info on Slieve Gullion Fire

The Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership Scheme (LPS) in South Armagh, is delighted to announce that it is through to the finals in the National Lottery Awards.
The programme was selected by a national panel as one of seven out of an initial 700 across the UK to get to the finals of the Best Environmental Project. But the rest is now up to you, the next stage is an open vote by the public, through the National Lottery Website, through social media and by phone and the project needs you to vote. A new display of landscape paintings from local artist Conor Ó Daighre, depicting Ireland's mystery mountain, Slieve Gullion, as it is seen from the surrounding townlands of South Armagh and Dundalk has just opened in the 3rd Place Cafe, in Market Square Dundalk.
