Sport NI – Active Awards – Small Grants Programme Now Open

Active Awards is an exchequer funded small grants programme primarily aimed at grassroots community based sport. The programme aims to prioritise investment in sports clubs, community groups and governing bodies of sport, especially those based in areas of greatest need that will deliver increases in sports participation amongst the identified target groups.

Digging into our Past: Cornahove – The Lost Ringfort

In partnership with Queen’s University Belfast’s Centre for Archeological Fieldwork (CAF), the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership is planning to undertake a new programme of archaeological investigation at the site of Carnahove - The Lost Hillfort at Lough Ross and there are going to be plenty of opportunities for the local community to be involved “digging into our past”!

Bessbrook Model Village wins Heritage Lottery Fund support

Today, the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership has received £55,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for an exciting project, ‘The Model Village Living History Archive’, in Bessbrook. Led by volunteers from the local community (Bessbrook Heritage Group, Bessbrook Development Company and Friends of Derrymore), the project focuses on Bessbrook's heritage and will allow people to be proud of their village again. It aims to do this by creating innovative interpretation, developing the local skills, knowledge base and networks and engaging with the local community in a fun way and hosting intergenerational and cross community workshops.
