Fr Dougal key to centuries-old row

A FORMER parish priest from South Armagh has pleaded with Irish comedian Ardal O’Hanlon to support him in a long-running dispute with the O’Hanlon clan. O'Hanlon's colourful lifestyle and his many adventures as an outlaw will be brought to life in a rip-roaring new musical production by The Rapparee Five at the Ti Chulainn Centre, Mullaghbane, on Saturday December 2nd at 7.30pm.

Laoch na Laochra, Hero of Heroes – the story of Cú Chulainn talk

CúChulainn is one of the most famous Irish mythological heroes. He appears in the stories of the Ulster Cycle, and Scottish and Manx folklore, but how much of the story of his life do you know or remember? Join the Ring of Gullion team and local man Reamonn Ó Ciaráin in Crossmaglen Library as he tells the story of the great warrior Cúchulainn on Wednesday 8th November at 7.00pm in Crossmaglen Library.

Ring of Gullion Rising out of the Darkness into the Light

Newry Mourne and Down District Council and the Ring of Gullion Partnership kicked off their Winter Solstice Festival on Wednesday 1st November, traditionally known as Samhain. The festival started with a coach tour with Una Walsh highlighting the Celtic footprints in the area. In Celtic Ireland, about 2,000 years ago, Samhain was the division of the year between the lighter half (summer) and the darker half (winter).

Google Trek Your Way around the Ring of Gullion

Earlier this year, in collaboration with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership, the Trekker Loan Program captured some of the wild and picturesque locations in the Ring of Gullion. The images were captured using Google’s Trekker camera and have opened remote and often hard-to-reach places, to armchair-explorers, travellers and history enthusiasts alike.

Comprehensive Traditional Woodland Management Training

The Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership are proud to announce the launch of a comprehensive traditional woodland management training course, running this autumn and winter. The course will give participants an insight into all aspects of traditional woodland and hedgerow management from growing your own, through to managing mature ones and the products you can get from them.
