Experience Gullion at the Slieve Gullion Adventure Playpark
17th September 2015

It’s time to pick the nation’s favourite park

This year a record breaking 1,582 parks and green spaces were awarded the prestigious, international Green Flag Award. These award winners included Slieve Gullion Forest Park. You can find all the winning parks at greenflagaward.org

Because we all know how much parks mean to people, the annual People’s Choice award is now open – giving the public a chance to vote for their favourite.

Newry, Mourne and Down Council is encouraging people to vote for Slieve Gullion Forest Park. Slieve Gullion Forest Park offers the unmissable opportunity to experience tranquil woodland trails, stunning views across the Ring of Gullion, Mourne Mountains, Cooley Peninsula and Armagh Drumlins and top class facilities for walkers and families. Play in the Adventure Playpark; explore the Giant’s Lair in the wonderful Hawthorn Hill Forest Nature Reserve and woodland trails, or take a turn in the ornamental walled garden, where you will find picnic benches, an outdoor performance stage, an al fresco coffee bar (open in the summer) and a wildlife pond with covered seating areas.

To vote, simply go to www.greenflagaward.org, select your country or region on the interactive map, find your favourite park or green space and click the ‘vote for this site’ button.

The vote will close at noon on 30 September. The winner of the People’s Choice award will be announced in October.
Nicola Murray, Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful said, “We all have a favourite park, whether it’s our local green space or a special park we’ll travel miles to visit. Following another record breaking year for the Green Flag Award, we are urging everyone to vote for their own favourite park, so we can crown one of Northern Ireland’s special parks as the People’s Choice 2015.”
