History of Gullion Tour 7 May 2011

Pictured here, (Former) Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council, Mick Murphy joins Tamasin Wilson of Newry and Mourne District Council and local guide Una Walsh to welcome attendees to the first “History of Gullion” Guided Bus Tour.

The tour was organised by NMDC as part of the Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Management Plan to encourage public access and enjoyment of the area.

Local guide Una Walsh ensured it was an experience not to be forgotten as she lead the bespoke tour and thrilled the passengers with stories of the culture, nature and heritage of the area.

Mayor Mick Murphy said, “The tour was a great opportunity to discover more about what the Newry and Mourne area has to offer.”

Tamasin Wilson of Newry and Mourne Council said, “We are delighted to provide people with a chance to explore the Ring of Gullion and enjoy the breathtaking landscape whilst learning about the history too. The tour was very well supported and it was the first of a number events we will be running throughout the year to showcase the area.”
