Food for Life Get Togethers are building a network of Experts by Experience

Could this be you? Read on to find out more…

What is Food for Life Get Togethers?

Food for Life Get Togethers are regular community activities that connect people from all ages and backgrounds through growing, cooking and eating good food.

Good food is food that’s good for people, the planet and the local economy.  We believe good food is even better when shared and that it is an important way to bring people together.

Food for Life Get Togethers are part of a bigger movement, led by the Soil Association, to make good food the easy choice for everyone.

Why are we building a network of Experts by Experience?

Connection, collaboration and community-led decision making is central to Food for Life Get Togethers. We want the people and communities we work alongside to shape and steer the decisions we make.

We are keen to involve a wide range of experience and expertise to make sure that what we do has as meaningful an impact as possible, and continues to effectively support people from all ages and backgrounds in good food activities.

Could you be an ‘Expert by Experience’?

We are looking for people from diverse backgrounds who have personal experience in connecting with people in their community through growing, cooking or eating good food.

You don’t have to have taken part in a Food for Life Get Together before. What’s most important to us is that you’re passionate about improving the lives of people in your community and their experiences of food.

What would you do?

You’ll be invited to share thoughts and opinions around food and your community across 3 different tasks. These tasks can be completed individually from your home, drawing on your own experiences and those of the people close to you.

We’ll design these tasks with you, so they suit you, your experience and interests. We’ll check in regularly to make sure you always feel supported and can see how your input and insights are shaping our decisions.

This is a paid and flexible role. For each task we ask that you spend 7.5 hours, which can be spread across a fortnight. For each task you will be paid £16.64 an hour (i.e. up to around £125 for each task). The 3 tasks will be spread across the next 6 months.

Please phone me or send me an email if you, or someone you know, would be interested. For more information contact Katherine on 07732 736346 or [email protected]
