Butterfly Conservation’s Winter Talks programme now underway

Butterfly Conservation Northern Ireland’s Branch Winter Talks programme is underway with two programmed talks over the coming months. The venue for the talks has recently changed to the Ormeau Road area of Belfast (see address and map below). Please do come along and/or let your family and friends know! Everyone is welcome. BCNI – Butterfly Atlas 2021
Venue: St John’s Scout Hall at St Johns Presbyterian Church, St Johns Church Presbyterian, 374 Ormeau Road, Belfast BT7 3HX
Date/Time: Thursday 15th March 2018 @ 7.30pm
Join us for an evening talk by Dr Tomás Murray of the National Biodiversity Data Centre.  Tomás will speak to us about the new All-Ireland Butterfly Atlas 2021 and how we can contribute to the survey and recording. He is a very knowledgeable and inspiring speaker with lots of encouragement for making the most of the coming butterfly season.

BCNI – ‘Lessons from the Lakelands’

Date:Time: Thursday 19th April 2018 @ 7.30pm
Martin Wain, Morecombe Bay Limestones Project Officer for Butterfly Conservation, comes to tell us about his work conserving a number of threatened butterfly species including the High Brown Fritillary, (Britain’s rarest butterfly), Dingy Skipper, Grayling and Marsh Fritillary. Morecombe is similar to Fermanagh in climate, geology and appearance and this will be a fantastic talk from one of BC’s leading conservation officers.
