Women in the Archives is part of the larger Making the Future project, which brings together leading cultural organisations –PRONI, The Linen Hall Library, National Museums Northern Ireland and the Nerve Centre. The programme brings participants together in cross-community engagement programmes across 9 interlinked strands, using the creative arts and digital technologies to fire the imagination and unlock the creativity of participants, whilst exploring contentious history and identity, and promoting reconciliation.
Over the course of the last three months, a group of 25 women from the local area have come together to complete 26 hours in film-making to create five spine tingling films under the common thread of south Armagh, Changing the Narrative. The five film themes are songs of the area, women artists, women in sport, women in farming and the lace tradition in the area.
The group are inviting members of the public to the first viewing of the films to join in their celebration of the amazing and talented women of south Armagh. If you can’t make the launch night, the films will also be shown as part of the Summer Solstice Community Celebrations on the 21st June.
