‘Hunter’s Moon Of Airgialla’, is a Theatrical Fusion of Drama, Poetry, Music, Song and Dance, celebrating the 18th century poets, myths and legends of Creggan and the lands of Oriel.
The play is set in the hallowed grounds of Creggan graveyard, on a chilly All Hallows’ Eve. The lead character, Rebecca, takes us on a journey, a voyage, as much about self-discovery as it is about fathoming our place in the world we inhabit. We follow Rebecca as, having taken on the mantle of Macha the ancient Celtic warrior goddess, she inadvertently invokes the wit, will and wisdom of the 18th century poets, offering us a profound story as we seek to create a new narrative for 21st century Ireland, encompassing elements of tragedy and comedy along the way.
This new Irish stage-play was written by Rosemary Tumilty, and dramatized readings are performed by Rosemary and The Oriel Dramatic Players / songs and poems in Irish by Colleen Savage, Blaithin McCann and Réamonn Ó Ciaráin.
Drinks Reception and traditional music on arrival by Dara Vallely and band then, following the Performance, dance the night away to music by ‘The Living Daylights’.
