This event is fully booked.
Solstice literally means ‘light standing still’………
This immersive experience is the perfect chance to stop and escape the stresses of December.
Join Ring of Gullion Ambassadors Ann Ward and Gary Martin for this special event.
We slowly make the ascent up to the South Cairn on Slieve Gullion, which was built during the stone age especially for the Winter Solstice, approximately 6,000 years ago.
We will rest inside the cairn with warming winter berry cordial and home made shortbread. As the sun sets, Ann will support you to connect with the sacred Winter Solstice light through a guided meditation.
We spend the rest of the evening in Ann’s cosy 2nd World war Nissen hut’ in Meigh with nurturing winter vegetable soup and hearty rustic bread and calming peppermint tea.
You will have time and space for personal reflection and develop personal goals and affirmations for the year ahead……
We gently end our immersive Winter Solstice evening with a healing white light meditation and body scan.
Wear warm comfortable clothing with a few extra layers for the top of the mountain, waterproofs, walking boots, hat and gloves, head torch, water and walking poles if you have some
Bring a pillow and blanket for your comfort and a yoga mat for the healing white light meditation and body scan in the hut.
Special notes for guests
This is a winter hill walk so it is essential to wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. The path can be slippery when wet and there will be some waiting around in the cold inside the cairn. As it is dusk when we descend torches are recommended, ideally head torches to keep your hands free for balance. It is also recommend that you have experience of hill walking before attending this hike.
The walk is weather dependent and will be cancelled in extreme weather. You can check before leaving by calling Ann 07816835147. We cannot guarantee entry into the Passage tomb.
