Volunteer Opportunity – Vegetation clearance in Jonesborough Forest – POSTPONED

This event has been POSTPONED.
Clearing overgrown paths and preparing the site for re-opening to the public.

This event has been postponed.

Join us in helping to tidy and improve Jonesborough Forest both for access for the public and it’s overall biodiversity.  Over the course of the winter we are hoping to get the forest to the point where it can be re-opened to the public.  The last section of loop path needs to be cleared of overgrowing vegetation and there is a secondary loop which is completely overgrown and needs re-opened.  Depending on how work progresses, we may also thin out some of the more sickly trees to provide more space for the healthy ones.

Don’t worry if you aren’t confident cutting vegetation down, we can teach you the necessary skills, alternatively there are plenty of other tasks which need doing, such as making habitat piles from the cleared material.

All tools and safety equipment are provided, all you need to bring with you is a packed lunch, weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear, hiking boots are ideal.

Registration essential.

NB: This work day is weather permitting.
