This evening event will feature music and dance from the Traditional Arts Partnership with a backdrop of banners and flags featuring townland names and a fascinating talk by historian Brian Turner, discussing successful projects reclaiming the identity of townlands locally and the psychological significance involved in the ease with which people, even those with strong cultural interests, can be persuaded to be a number rather than to preserve one of the most unifying markers of cultural identity in Ulster. Local historian, Una Walsh, will also speak about our proposals to name and reclaim our townland heritage in the Ring of Gullion. Light refreshments will be available from 7.30 to 8pm.
