As part of the Annual Famine Commemorations this is a series of events focusing on the loss of the “Hannah”, a famine ship with strong local links to the Ring of Gullion and most particularly the parish of Forkhill from whence came many of the passengers on the fateful voyage ending in the tragedy on the iceflows of the Gulf of St Lawrence.  This event will see the unveiling of a plaque at Merchants Quay, Newry in memory of those lost and telling the tales of amazing survival against the odds
