Mourne International Walking Festival- Get Your Walking Boots On!

We live in an area of outstanding natural beauty but how many of us have ever walked in the Mourne Mountains? That’s the question being posed to local people by the organisers of this year's Mourne International Walking Festival 23rd – 25th June 2017.

We live in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty but how many of us have ever walked in the Mourne Mountains? That’s the question being posed to local people by the organisers of this year’s Mourne International Walking Festival 23rd – 25th June 2017.

Based in Warrenpoint this year, the festival traditionally attracts walkers from all over the world and for 2017 the organisers would like to see international visitors joined by people from all over Northern Ireland.

Organiser’s are delighted to announce that the Mourne International Walking Festival has recently been awarded ‘2016 Best Walking Festival’ and the Mourne Mountains have been awarded ‘2016 Best Walking Destination in Northern Ireland’.

There are a range of both guided and self-guided walks to suit various levels of fitness and experience so that families, strollers and serious walkers alike can take part*. The lowland routes are pre-marked allowing you to walk at your own pace and are perfect for those wishing to take kids along, with refreshments at control points at intervals along the route.

Pre booking is already open and by booking now you can save money; alternatively you can register on the morning of the walks.

You can revive tired feet with music at the annual blister ball, which is held this year in the Lough & Quay, Warrenpoint.

With more and more emphasis nowadays on how important it is to keep fit and healthy, what better way to do it than to go for a walk and, at the same time, find out about your local area?

For full details of the walks and other information visit www.mournewalking.co.uk or contact Warrenpoint Tourist Office on 028 4175 2256 or [email protected]

*under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
