Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is holding their annual ‘Mountains, Myths and Maritime Tourism Industry Day’ on Wednesday 26 June 2019 from 9.30am – 2.30pm at Killeavy Castle Estate.
This event is to help maximise tourism industry growth and to share expertise in developing EPIC Experiences to assist Newry, Mourne and Down in becoming the premier, year-round mountain and maritime destination in Ireland.
The Industry Day will provide an opportunity for local tourism businesses to hear from Tourism Northern Ireland’s Chief Executive John McGrillen speaking on “Growing Tourism Together” other speakers will include Rosie-Marie McHugh, Tourism Northern Ireland and Sinead Murray, Tourism Ireland on “Promoting Northern Ireland Overseas”, Naula Devlin Saul form Brack Tours will speak about “Collaboration and Knowing Your Market” and Mags Byrne will be advising how to tell your story through social media.
As well as learning some tips on how to improve your business this will also be an excellent opportunity to network with other industry partners and businesses throughout the region.
Chairman of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Councillor Charlie Casey explained, “Growing tourism is the key priority of the Council’s Corporate Plan. The Mountains, Myths and Maritime Tourism Industry Day will be a fantastic opportunity for every tourism business in our region to learn about what is happening in the tourism industry and how to maximise their business.”
Killeavy Castle Estate General Manager, Jason Foody said, “As the area’s newest tourist and hospitality destination we are delighted to host the upcoming Mountain, Myths and Maritime Tourism Industry Day”. He remarked that Killeavy Castle Estate is nestled at the foot of Slieve Gullion and overlooking the Mountains of Mourne with an ancient past dating back to the 17th century, “is the ideal location for such an event.”
