Come along to the Ring of Gullion Lúnasa Festival 2021 and immerse yourself in the rich landscape, culture and heritage of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This festival is part of the Mourne-Gullion-Strangford Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark of events and is funded by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. To find a full list of events visit www.ringofgullion.org.
Your journey in ‘awakening your senses’ will begin on Slieve Gullion Mountain with Ann Ward of Xhale. This is a perfect haven to deepen your spiritual connection with nature. This sacred mountain is a mythological sleeping giant where you will rest, reconnect and re-energise over the next 2.5 hours.
Ann will support your forest immersion through guided mindfulness meditation and she will offer you creative invitations to deepen your connection with nature. You will begin to gently slow down and switch off, while awakening your senses. This is the perfect chance for a digital detox and to relieve techno-stress.
Forest Bathing is an evidence-based wellness practice which originated in Japan in the 1980’s as a stress prevention intervention. 2 hours in the forest boosts your immunity for up to 10 days. Your forest experience will end with a tea ceremony with warm foraged elderflower cordial which is full of vitamin C and home made short bread.
After our nature immersion we will travel a short distance to Meigh village to Ann’s quirky, creative healing space, a cosy 2nd World War hut. Relax and continue to awaken you senses over a locally produced, seasonal, sensory, three-course lunch: Summer Greens Soup with barley, spinach, kale, celery and scallion & home- baked wheaten bread; a vegetarian salad with local goats cheese, walnuts with a beetroot and mint chutney. And for dessert, apple and cinnamon tart served with cream with tea/coffee, including herbal teas. Recipes will be available to take home.
After lunch we will explore how you can bring the practice of forest bathing/nature connection into your everyday life. We will gently end the event with a guided meditation, taking the gift of mindfulness home with you.

Rapid COVID-19 tests – known as Lateral Flow Device (LFD) tests
The use of LFD testing is important as an additional measure alongside the range of existing safety measures in place. It is important to remember that, even with a negative LFD test, continue to follow all other public health and safety measures in place.
It is strongly recommended that anyone participating in, or attending, any event should test themselves before they attend, and on days 2 and 8 after the event. The purpose of this testing is to identify any positive cases in advance of the event, and allow them to self-isolate. Post event testing will also help to identify any asymptomatic COVID-19 infections arising from the event, or social interactions that may occur before or after an organised event.
Rapid COVID-19 tests can be obtained by anyone who requires them, free of charge. Rapid test packs can be ordered online for free delivery to your home.
You can also order them for collection in a number of locations across NI:

If anyone has symptoms of COVID-19, they should self-isolate and book a PCR test immediately. Please do not attend events unless you receive a negative PCR test. PCR tests are available at testing sites across Northern Ireland and can be booked at: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
