Dipping to make discoveries. Join us to learn what dwells beneath the surface of the Slieve Gullion Ponds. Learn how to carry out some simple science experiments to find out how healthy the ponds are. We will be able to compare the inhabitants of two very different ponds – the man-made pond at the courtyard with its frenzy of frogs and the wild dragonfly pond on the mountain with its acrobatic dragons and damsels.
Pond dipping is something that every child can do and learning even a little about the mini-beasts will reveal a whole new world hidden beneath the surface.
This is a free event, but booking is essential. Half the event will be at the courtyard pond and half up on the forest drive, so a short car journey will be needed to get to the second pond.
Please note you only need to book a space for your child or children, however children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
