Invasive Species Survey Training

Do you want to become an Invasive Species Hunter for the Ring of Gullion?

The Ring of Gullion AONB and Landscape Partnership Scheme are offering survey training for volunteers who would to get involved in our invasive species project.

The training will be provided by the Alien Invasive Species Team from Northern Ireland Environment Agency and will focus on plant invaders. No previous experience necessary. We are hoping to recruit attendees to become part of a team of volunteers who will help monitor and record the spread of Invasive Non Native Plant species across the Ring of Gullion this summer.

You’ll be helping collect data from your local patch to feed into a national project fighting the spread of these problematic plants.

Invasive species are species that have been introduced (deliberately or accidentally) by humans and have a negative impact on the economy, wildlife or habitats of Ireland and Northern Ireland. After habitat loss, invasive species are the second biggest threat to biodiversity worldwide, and the biggest threat on islands.
