Everyone is welcome to a fascinating evening telling the tales of Derrymore, the estate and surrounding townlands. This event is part of the townland stones project.
A great line-up of speakers will be sure to entertain and inform. Tales of Derrymore’s wildlife, built heritage and future plans will be topics visited by Rosemary Mulholland, the new warden of Derrymore, and Malachy Conway the National Trust archaeologist. Stories of the townlands of the area, their names, history and heritage will be discussed by Una Walsh, local historian and the evening will end with Richard Black from Bessbrook Development telling some fascinating stories from neighbouring Bessbrook.
Entertainment will be provided by local singers and musicians on arrival and light refreshments will be served following the talks giving attendees the chance to soak up the atmosphere of the Treaty Room in Derrymore House as it would have been in its heyday.
