Programme for the Day
11.30 Introductory Talk
13.30 / 14.00 Walk on Slieve Gullion
For this ‘Get into Hill Walking’ Day we propose a walk along a route on Slieve Gullion from the courtyard. We will speak of various routes we are familiar with from our walks calendar in the Ring of Gullion, Mourne Mountains and Cooley Peninsula. We also have enthusiastic members with interests in history, flora & fauna who regularly share this knowledge of the local area with our walkers. In regards to health and safety, we would ask that all attendants to wear suitable clothes (layers – no jeans, an effective rain coat) and walking boots for the walk.
The Gap o’ the North Hill Walking Club was created in January 2011 and is based in the village of Jonesborough in South Armagh. We currently have 74 members ranging in age from mid-thirties to 70 yrs +. We have strong community links and are involved in a number of community projects throughout the walking year. Our links are especially strong to the Ring of Gullion as this is our natural hinterland.
