Lúnasa Festival 2017 – Trekking Thursdays: Gap o’ the North Trail

Develop a fascinating and humorous insight into both the spiritual and historical history of the Ring of Gullion during the 1600s along the Gap O' the North trail. This historical walk visiting ancient and current monuments will be led by Venora, a Ring of Gullion Ambassador and Seamus, a local historian.

Enjoy an historical walk back through time visiting ancient and current monuments of the Christian era.

You will be led on this journey by Venora, a Ring of Gullion Ambassador and Seamus a local historian. During your walk you will learn about the historical importance of this area in the 1600s and it’s impact on present day history.

You will visit Faughart graveyard,  Moyry Castle and the Kilnasaggart stone and develop a fascinating  and humorous insight into both the spiritual and historical history of this area.

This walk is approximately 4 miles long and will take 2.5 hours. It is mostly downhill and will begin at Faughart graveyard finishing off in Jonesborough. As this is a linear walk, return transport will be provided for DRIVERS only; please but a ‘D’ beside the driver when booking. 

Cost: £2 – paid on the day

Sturdy walking shoes or runners are recommended.

Suitable for children over 6 years; parental supervision essential. Regretfully no dogs.

It can be difficult to find Faughart Graveyard, please take note of the map, directions and coordinates of the site before departure.
