In this workshop Cathal McDonnell an artist from Newry will explain and demonstrate the application of technology to art and digital art highlighting how this new emerging art form can be used to draw visitors to locations and attractions.
Cathal has over 30 year’s experience working in the graphic design sector. More recently he has been researching and working with AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) Apps within his creative practice. He uses virtual reality apps to help clients see artwork on their walls at real scale using their mobile device to boost commercial sales & sustainability for artists.
The workshop will be focused on:
What is Digital Art? How can Tech be used to transform an experience? What knowledge, skills and resources are required to develop digital art experiences? Examples of digital art and tourism and an overview of where the technology is going and how businesses can get started.
Kieran Swail Tourism Innovation Specialist at SRC will help facilitate the workshop.
The workshop is supported through the “Emerging Technologies” strand of the Connected Programme funded by the Department of the Economy NI.
