Mindfulness for stress managment

Event takes place on July 15, 2017

‘Xhale and De-stress…….’

Ann will guide you through a number of mindfulness techniques to help anchor you in the present moment - liberating you from worry and anxiety e.g. breathing exercises, observing and detaching from your thoughts, reducing the ‘noise’ in your life, managing your emotions, body scan, sensory development through contemplative eating and walking practice, living a mindful lifestyle.

Lúnasa Festival 2017 – Have a go at straw craft

Event takes place on August 7, 2017

Drop in and have a go at making traditional harvest knots from straw with Straw Craft Ireland. You'll be guided through the necessary techniques, while learning the history and traditions of straw craft in Ireland. Once finished, you'll have a traditional harvest knot to take home. There will also be an exhibition of various items woven in a method of plaiting unique to Ireland from baskets and cradles to mummer's masks, variations of Brigid's crosses and corn dollies.

Lúnasa Festival 2017 – Trekking Thursdays: Gap o’ the North Trail

Event takes place on August 17, 2017

Develop a fascinating and humorous insight into both the spiritual and historical history of the Ring of Gullion during the 1600s along the Gap O' the North trail. This historical walk visiting ancient and current monuments will be led by Venora, a Ring of Gullion Ambassador and Seamus, a local historian.

Lúnasa Festival 2017 – Mindfulness Walk through Hidden Gems

Event takes place on August 19, 2017

Nurture your awareness of nature by joining Local Ambassador and meditation facilitator Ann Ward on a guided mindful walk. Ann will share stories about the biodiversity and the historical sites including Bell’s Castle, Clonlum burial chamber, Killeavy Old Churches and St. Moninna’s Well. You will develop your mindfulness skills through breathing practices, awareness of nature, a mindful picnic and develop a sensory appreciation of the local landscape while discovering some of the hidden gems of Slieve Gullion along the way.
Please note that a part of the route is steep.
