Skeletons in the cupboard – winter tree identification

Once trees loose their leaves it becomes harder to identify them, this day will help you to identify those living skeletons by their bark, shape, buds and roots, join us to find out how.

Once trees loose their leaves it becomes harder to identify them, this day will help you to identify those living skeletons by their bark, shape, buds and roots.  Rather like trying to recognize someone purely by the clothes they wear, using leaves to identify a tree is only half the story and this event will have you reading the story of the landscape like a pro. Learning your winter trees is a pleasurable and beneficial way to enhance your skills as a naturalist – even in the middle of winter . This event is part of the What’s about in the Wild programme and we will also be learning how to record some of the trees we find using simple smart phone apps and on-line recording.
