Dawn Chorus Walk

Join our experience guide, Breffni Martin, for a dawn chorus walk. It's an excellent opportunity to learn a lot about our charismatic native song birds.

Join the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership on a free guided Dawn Chorus walk in Creggan Poets Glen.

Wrap up warm and join us in the quiet stillness of the pre-dawn and wait for the silence to be broken by the solitary blackbird, greeting the new day.  As the other birds wake they join their songs to the that of the blackbird until you are wandering through a wonderful cacophony of our native bird song.  Our experienced guide, Breffni Martin, will help you distinguish the sounds of the different species of birds from the small but very loud wren to the distinctive call of the chiff-chaff.  Breffni is a fountain of knowledge and will be able to answer any bird related questions you may have.

After the walk a free hot drink will be available to warm you up after the morning chill.

Please dress warmly and bring a torch to help you move around safely in the pre-dawn darkness.  The walk will take place along the Creggan Poet’s Glen Trail and we’ll be meeting in front of Creggan Parish church.
